-$80 per 5000' roll of 30" wide plastic
-2 layers or 4mils of plastic on dry hay
-4 layers or 8 mills of plastic on balage.

Now consider this:

At the 2007 Appalachian Grazing Conference a WVU extension agent had calculated that the true feed value of high quality hay or balage when compared to current corn and soybean prices is $200 per ton. As livestock farmers we are in the business of pounds whether it is pounds of milk produced or daily animal gain. Substandard forage equals less pounds and less pounds equals less money. Wrapping dry hay or making balage will give you 25-50% more feed. Whether this gives you more animal carrying capacity, additional hay to sell or less supplemental feed you have to buy the bottom line is you make more money.
